Assad Sawey is a bilingual journalist with 15 years of experience mostly in television journalism.
He is currently a news anchor with Sky News Arabia. Previously he worked in several news organizations including BBC, where he presented and reported news in Arabic and English. Based in London for most of the past ten years, Assad also reported and presented programs from many parts of the world. He covered the last two US presidential elections, the conflicts in Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen, Pakistan and the turbulent events in Egypt and several other Arab countries over the past 4 years. He also reported on the conflict in Ukraine from Kiev, and Crimea earlier this year; and the Iran nuclear talks in Geneva and Vienna. Earlier on, he reported on technological, health and business issues for different media.
Assad has interviewed several key figures including then Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa, Microsoft Founder Bill Gates, Egyptian presidential candidate Hamdain Sabbahy, European Commission President Romano Prodi, EU Foreign Policy chief Javier Solana and several other Arab, British and US politicians and artists. He has been recognized by WHO for his works.
