Jessy El Murr is a multi-lingual journalist with over 10 yrs of journalism experience, having worked around the world for several international TV networks including BBC and Al Jazeera.
From Washington to Geneva, Berlin, Istanbul, Kandahar and Beirut, Jessy covered major political, economic and military news stories around the world.
In 2012, Jessy was the first Arab female reporter to complete an embed with US Army Troops in Kandahar, Afghanistan reporting for SKY News Arabia on NATO efforts to train Afghan troops.
Also that year, Jessy was the only Arab female reporter covering the largest International Countermine Exercise in the Arab Gulf with the participation of Navy troops from over 30 countries.
Recently, Jessy was in South Africa covering the historic funeral of Nelson Mandela and before that in Istanbul, detailing student protests that started a wave of political developments in Turkey.
Prior to joining SKY News Arabia in Dec 2011, Jessy was the Washington DC Reporter for BBC Arabic and BBC World for 4 years. She covered major political news stories and the U.S presidential elections in 2008 and mid-term elections in US Congress. Jessy also covered the yearly UN General Assembly meetings and a range of economic stories and events at World Bank and IMF.
During her work with BBC and SKY News Arabia, Jessy has interviewed a wide range of high ranking military officials and politicians including Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, US diplomat Jeffery Feltman, US Envoy Martin Indyk, Microsoft founder Bill Gates, actor George Clooney and Sir Richard Branson.
She is fluent in English, Arabic and French and holds a Master's degree in Integrated Journalism from Emerson College, Boston.
